Top 5 Healthy Lunches Near Telok Ayer MRT

Here are some tasty and healthy food places in Singapore CBD. When it comes to lunch, most people are looking for something quick and easy. A lot of the time, healthy eating is secondary to convenience. Here we look at my top five best healthy lunches around Telok Ayer MRT. You can eat clean and with a reasonable price-tag. They are all super tasty and super healthy. Each of them does great take-aways, deliveries and eat-in dining.

1. Kitchen by Food Rebel 28 Stanley Street

If you are vegan, vegetarian, looking for gluten-free clean eating, or just wanting freshly prepared food and drinks, then Kitchen by Food Rebel is a haven for you. Elika and her crew are passionate about healthy cuisine that’s uncomplicated and delicious, using top-quality ingredients and as much organic produce as possible ‘because it matters’. They are on a mission to show that good, healthy food can be imaginative and simply delicious, and make all their dressings, sauces, juices and smoothies in-house. No canned or bottled stuff that’s full of junk. No modified starch, emulsifiers, stabilisers, MSG, aspartame etc.

Kitchen by Food Rebel caters to individuals with allergies, meat lovers, vegans & vegetarians, and people with dietary restrictions around ingredients such as dairy & gluten. They also provide herbal & medicinal teas, customised meals, special nutrition for sports, muscle building, weight loss, post-surgery immunity or recovery meals. If you want to indulge, they also carry a range of organic wine and beer.

All-in-all a great place to meet up and have super-tasty super-healthy food for people with all dietary requirements

Brunch: Rendang Egg Benedict (Sweet Potato ‘toast’, avocado, tomato, poached eggs & Rendang sauce)

2. Shake Farm HQ 126 Telok Ayer Street

Shake Farm is a fab new concept and serves; Fresh & Healthy Shakes, Breakfasts, Fairtrade Coffee, Delicious & Nutritious Lunches, Build-Your-Own Protein Bowls, Acai Bowls, Organic Cocktails & Wines, Health Conscious Beers and a whole lot more besides. From walking in, you can feel the healthy farmyard vibe. Green grass, servers dressed in Cow T-shirts, and the shakes prepared fresh at the counter. They have a great menu, with lots of options for all dietary styles. Staff are knowledgeable and will swap items from dishes without fuss. Every menu item shows the calorie content and breakdown of carbs and proteins. They also have a yoga studio on the third floor!

Breakfast: Banana Nutter (Natural peanut butter, sliced banana, honey, Chia Seed on multigrain toast)
Lunch: Beef Bros Protein Bowl (Rib eye steak, crack broccoli, asparagus, capsicum, nut crumble, beetroot hummus, tri-colour quinoa, olive oil
Brunch: Scrambled supreme (Scrambled Eggs – Avocado – Feta Cheese – Cranberries – Rocket Almond Flakes – Parsley – Choose: Halloumi or Multigrain Toast)

3. My Awesome Café 202 Telok Ayer Street

No list of places on Telok Ayer would be complete without My Awesome Cafe. While it’s not a health-food cafe, there is plenty to eat for all diets here. Their food is crafted to bring out the Awesomeness in each ingredient. They take great pride in sourcing out suppliers that can give the value and quality they demand. From salads and sandwiches, coffee and spirits, plus platters and wines, they take their food very seriously – always nourishing yet always wickedly fun. Service is always on-point, food looks and tastes great, awesome vibes.

Pick your spot early-it’s a very popular place!

I like:
Breakfast: French Yoghurt with granola and mixed berries
Lunch: My Awesome Vegetarian Salad (Pepper, Grilled Eggplant, Boiled Egg, Tomato, avocado, Brie and Mesclun)
Brunch: Chicken Lasagna

4. Aloha Poke 92 Amoy Street

Poké (pronounced “Poh-Kay”) is a Hawaiian staple and the choice food of surfers. Traditional Poké comprises of seasoned Ahi (Tuna) tossed with toasted sesame seeds, sweet onions and scallions. It’s great on its own, but for a heartier meal, best consumed over rice and salad. At Aloha their Poké is always prepared fresh with generous amounts of tuna or salmon lightly marinated in their secret sauces and topped off with a wide selection of Add-ons and Superfoods. They have three flagship flavours: Original, Wasabi Mayo and Spicy.

They turn into a Hawaiian Tiki bar at night and serve mussels cooked in beer!

I Like:
Ocean Breeze (2 scoops of Original Tuna served over Mixed Rice and Salad. Topped off with Flying Fish Roe and Cucumber)
Green Giant (1 scoop of Tofu Poké and 1 scoop of King Mushroom Poké served over Spiced Cauliflower Rice. Topped off with Japanese Garlic Chips)
They do a great version in a wrap too: Mentaiko Madness Pokeritto (2 scoops of Mentaiko Salmon served over White Rice and Salad. Topped off with Cranberries and Almonds)

5. Grain Traders 138 Market Street (Capita Green)

Grain Traders is more than your typical, casual, lunch-time joint: it serves hearty comfort food for the everyday worker, providing variety, quality, and experience for the senses and soul in a cosy, comfortable experience. At the heart of Grain Traders is a belief in feeding and treating people right, without compromise. The deal here is Build-Your-Own Bowls, and with meat, fish, veggie and vegan choices there is something for everyone. Each lunch bowl features a choice of 1 grain (6 varieties), 1 protein (6 varieties), 1 hot vegetable (6 varieties), 2 cold vegetables (7 varieties), 1 sauce (8 varieties), and 1 topping (8 varieties). Ingredients are fresh, tasty, and decently executed. Portions are huge, very hearty and filling, suitable for sharing.

This place queues out of the door from 12:00 till 1:30. Be prepared to wait for your tasty bowl.

Lunch: Mr Pirom (Tuna and Wild Mushrooms, Apple Kimchi, Crudites Slaw, Soba Noodles)
